Coupledom Origin Story
My husband Benjamin and I frequently question the norms around us and seek to find a life partnership that meets our needs. This has led us to unconventional experiments such as Benjamin paying Sami to be pregnant, living in various co-housing communities, and spending weeks apart while we explore our individual interests.
I’ve written and shared many of these experiments on my personal blog here. And no, polyamory is not one of our experiments ;).
These experiments have led to two things:
In 2020, I interviewed a handful of other couples making unique choices to navigate their lives together and documented them here, which was the original Coupledom site.
In 2023, I led a marriage retreat for Benjamin and I to envision our lives together over the next 5 years. I wrote about it here. This article garnered quite a bit of attention and led to several requests from other couples for me to facilitate their own marriage retreat.
This interest from others has inspired me to help other couples define a life partnership that aligns with their inner compass, not societal expectations.
